The 12th International Conference on the History of Science in China, a series of academic meeting currently organized by the Chinese Society for the History of Science and Technology (CSHST), with the sponsorship from the Institute for the History of Natural Science (IHNS), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Tsinghua University, will be held in Beijing on 26-30 June 2010.

The theme of the conference is “Multi-cultures Perspective of the History of Science and Technology in China”. In practice, the following topics will be specially focused:
1. Cross-cultural transmission and comparative studies in science and technology;
2. Studies in ancient Chinese literature concerning science, technology and medicine;
3. Traditional technology and non-material heritages in the world.


A speech on the 30th anniversary celebration of the Chinese Society for the History of Science and Technology (1980-2010) will be given during the conference. Another section devoting to the Scientific Instruments of Non-Western Tradition will run parallel to the conference in the newly built venue of China Museum of Science and Technology (CMST). The detailed information about other scientific and social activities will be given in the Second Circular.
